The view of the hotel situated opposite the exit from Terminal 2, which handles millions of passengers every year, will be one of the first impressions from Poland to many of them. This was a guideline for the design concept to present a simple and possibly synthetic form of the building, entering into a dialogue both with the new terminal building completed recently, and with the other facilities in the airport area. The aeronautic references in the quest for a form represent an effort to find – in the industrial and technological architecture of the airport environment – a concept of a somewhat unreal building, while implementing the utilitarian values that a contemporary hotel and conference facility should have. A gentle curve of the arcades and parapet wall is to emphasize the aerodynamic shape of the building. A smooth “skin” of the graphite elevation is contrasted with the warmth of the wooden cladding to the arcade walls. This arrangement emphasizes the impression of uniqueness and internal warmth expected of hotel interiors.
