Competition for a residential and service complex at 28 Czerwca 1956 Street in Poznań.

The competition task involved developing an architectural and urban concept for a residential and service complex on the post-industrial areas at 28 Czerwca Street in Poznań. Accompanying us during the design process were thoughts revolving around creating a fully-fledged fragment of the City, enabling the experience of urbanity in many different ways - through living as well as work, trade, socializing, culture, and leisure. These intuitions found reflection in the structure of the plan based on a strongly radiating and architecturally defined Center where we placed a multifunctional House accommodating many of the mentioned purposes. Seeking spatial as well as meaningful connections with the surroundings, we proposed its integration with the historic Villa of the industrialist Brunon Hermann through a longitudinal urban Market - a lively place for meetings, relaxation, and small-scale trade, extending the Central House program outdoors. The shaped core of the plan was surrounded by residential and office buildings with diverse architecture offering mutually complementing atmospheres - from metropolitan along 28 Czerwca 1956 Street, through urban, to the most intimate and neighborhood-oriented in places distant from the main streets.
