Competition for concept of the new seat of the Museum of Wielkopolska Uprising of 1918-1919 in Poznań

Work at the grassroots, patriotism expressed in consequent work, persistence and patience, everyday cultivation of Polishness and nameless heroism are the foundation for the effectiveness of the insurgent act built over the one-and-a-half century. The attempt to read the "genius loci" with no room for monumentality, originality or impressing with the form is to serve the history.

St. Adalbert Hill dominates not only in the landscape. It also holds a special place in the city’s history. The museum and the hill create an imposing narrative. Neighbouring buildings – church of St. Adalbert, a monastery of Discalced Carmelites friars, a complex of buildings of a former slaughterhouse – create the world that is enclosed by walls, composed inward, but rich and diverse. Similarly, a museum is a space with many rooms and a garden - hidden but present behind an openwork ceramic wall.

The non-hierarchical composition of education spaces, assembly hall, administration and conservation of the collection department brings the scale and the principle of composition closer to historical assumptions. It is an open form unifying the garden and internal spaces "hollowed out" in the soft tissue of the garden, under which the illusory world of the exhibition's narrative message remains to be discovered.
